The Consortium PEM / APPLICATIO / NNF / MPW, made-up by APPLICATIO Training & Management GmbH and PEM GmbH (Lead), the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF) and MPW Associates (MPW), has been contracted by the University of Namibia (UNAM) with financial support by Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) with financial means of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to develop new study programmes on wildlife-management for the extended campus of UNAM in Katima Mulilo. As an additional option, the Consortium will also support the construction of the campus-extension.
The Katima-Region is especially attractive for topics around wildlife-management, wildlife-migration and nature conservation due to the surrounding nature conservation areas as part of the KAZA-region.
The project will start in January 2018 and will have a duration of six years. As final outcomes new Bachelor and Master studies in Wildlife-Management will be offered by UNAM, lecturers be trained, a PhD. programme be developed and UNAM be supported in developing an international research and training network on wildlife management. The Campus extension would include new training-facilities, students' accommodation and accommodation for lecturers and international guest experts.
